This is a paradise hidden in the dense forests of Cuba. On the wall of the village, there is a huge colorful painting. It is said to be very old and depicts the hunting scenery of the mountains and rivers at that time. It is beautiful and mysterious, and it is worth appreciating.

The Viñales Valley, also known as the Viñales National Park, is located in the Pinar del Río region in western Cuba. This marvelous natural environment was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. In the Viñales Valley, you can enjoy numerous activities in an incredible natural environment that is unique to Cuba. The flora and fauna of this place are very distinctive. Some of the endemic species that you can find are the cob and the male pine. The most famous of these is the cork palm, a plant that has been declared a national monument because it is a prehistoric species. If you like caving, the Viñales Valley is ideal for you because there are many caves to explore. The most striking ones are: the Cueva de San Miguel, where you can learn about the history of runaway slaves, the ones who managed to escape, and their terrible situation; the Cueva del Indio, which you have to take a boat to discover because there is an underground river running through it; and the Great Cave of Santo Tomas, the most extensive cave system in Cuba, which has been declared a national monument for its spectacular stalagmites and stalactites. Without a doubt, one of the most unique places in the Viñales Valley, and in Cuba in general, is the prehistoric murals. This is a large mural that represents the evolution of species and life in the valley. What makes it a unique painting is that it was painted on the slopes of Pita Mogote, one of the most famous mogotes. This area is where the traditional Havana cigars are produced, so you can visit tobacco plantations and learn about the manufacturing process of this famous Cuban product. Casa del Veguero is one of the plantations that you cannot miss. To end your visit to the Viñales Valley and be able to appreciate it in its entirety, the ideal option is to go to the Jazmines viewpoint, especially recommended at sunset when the valley takes on unforgettable hues. Other activities that you can do during your visit to this valley include horseback riding, hiking and rock climbing.
